Toronto will see its first Michelin stars this fall |
Toronto is all abuzz with the news that the Michelin Guide will make its first appearance in Canada's largest city this fall.
Gwendal Poullennec, director of the international guides was in Toronto to make the announcement, and on hand were celebrity chefs Daniel Boulud and Alvin Leung. Boulud's Daniel restaurant in New York has two stars, while Leung's Bo Innovation in Hong Kong used to have three at one point, and is a judge on MasterChef Canada.

Hmmm he seems to hint that there could be guides in other cities -- Montreal perhaps? Vancouver?
Meanwhile Toronto mayor John Tory said this would help put the city on the culinary map for foodies to descend on Hogtown.
"This is an exciting moment for our city as Toronto will become the first Michelin Guide destination in Canada," Tory said. "This further bolsters our reputation as a world destination for food and cuisine. Our diverse city, along with the many renowned chefs who call Toronto home, have helped us get to this point and to be able to showcase all of the wonderful restaurants."

And in Toronto's case, Michelin is teaming up with Destination Toronto -- a City of Toronto partner that promotes tourism and local businesses...
